Souder, Miller & Associates (SMA) was founded in 1984 with the acquisition of San Juan Engineers in Farmington. The Santa Fe office opened in 1992 after a merger with an environmental science consulting company, Karl Souder & Associates. The Albuquerque and Las Cruces offices were opened in late 1994; the Cortez, Colorado, office in mid-2002; and the Monticello, Utah, office in late 2003, each in response to the needs of our clients in New Mexico and the surrounding states. In 2002 SMA acquired On Site Technologies in Farmington; and became affiliated with iiná bá, a Native American-owned consulting firm that is also in Farmington. By working closely with the client during this development process, SMA is able to provide the highest quality services possible at a highly competitive cost. This preliminary client contact is continued and encouraged through the life of the project to guarantee that the final product meets the client’s expectations. SMA employs a staff of experienced professionals who are committed to providing a high-quality product. SMA has successfully completed national and local projects by working closely with every client to ensure that the final product meets the individual needs and resources of the corporation, private entity, or municipality. The diverse training and varied background of the staff allows SMA to evaluate a broad range of engineering, environmental, and regulatory conditions. To ensure consistently high-quality work, SMA employs a quality assurance/quality control program. Under this program all work produced in the company is reviewed by a Professional Engineer, a Registered Land Surveyor, a Certified Scientist, a Certified Corrective Action Specialist and/or a Professional Geologist, as is appropriate for the project. SMA ensures that all on-site work complies with a Health and Safety Plan designed to meet all applicable OSHA standards. As a facet of this program, all personnel working in potentially hazardous environments maintain appropriate OSHA certifications. As an additional measure of protection for the client, SMA maintains Errors and Omissions insurance coverage. The Miller GroupSouder, Miller & Associates is part of the Miller Group of firms, which provides multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting services. The Great Lakes Division, Miller Engineers and Scientists, consists of three offices in Wisconsin. The Rocky Mountain Division, Inberg-Miller Engineers, services Wyoming and the surrounding states with five offices. These goals are achieved through a well-qualified, highly educated team of employees including Registered Professional Engineers, Registered Professional Geologists, Registered Land Surveyors, Engineers-In-Training, hydrogeologists, geochemists, AutoCAD technicians, and construction inspection technicians.
