Souder, Miller & Associates Celebrates New Office at Albuquerque Location

(Albuquerque, New Mexico) Souder, Miller & Associates (SMA) celebrated the opening of its new Albuquerque office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday. Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry was the keynote speaker and participated in the actual ribbon cutting. He spoke about the importance of economic development and the fact that Albuquerque has seen steady job growth over the past few years due to the hard work and dedication of companies like SMA.

The new building is located at 5454 Venice Ave. NE, just north of Alameda Boulevard. The firm has experience substantial growth company-wide and decided it needed more space for the 70+ employees at the Albuquerque location. The firm made the move after spending 16 years at its old location and a previous location where employees were spread between three separate buildings.  Souder, Miller & Associates was originally founded in 1984 as Miller Engineers, Inc., and became SMA after a merger in 1992 with Karl Souder & Associates. It is the third-largest engineering, environmental and surveying firm in New Mexico.

The company’s President, Peter Fant, P.E., said that in addition to providing a more comfortable work environment for employees, the new location contributes to the economic development of the community. “We have had continued growth over the past few years and I want to thank everyone at Souder Miller & Associates for helping to make that happen,” said Fant. “The company-wide effort is part of the reason we were able to upgrade to this facility.”

SMA’s team includes professional engineers, professional surveyors, professional geologists and hydrogeologists, soil scientists, surveyors, certified floodplain managers, environmental professionals, planners, GIS/CAD operators, construction observers and support staff. Seven offices in New Mexico, as well as branch offices in Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Utah provide a base for more than 200 employee-owners to work with and improve their communities.
