Overview

The Berrendo Cooperative Water Users Association (CWUA) is a 1,500-connection water system with approximately 220 miles of transmission and distribution lines. Berrendo CWUA contracted SMA for this water system improvements project to address needs in additional water source, storage and transmission. SMA completed a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) and Environmental Report (ER) in a limited timeframe, due to funding cycle scheduling. These documents were later used to secure project funding from USDA.

SMA performed all planning, design, construction administration, construction observation, construction staking and will be performing the funding closeout documents, Operation and Maintenance Manuals and record drawings associated with the installation of approximately nine miles of 12-inch distribution waterline, new 1,200-gpm water well with chlorination system, new welded steel 1,650,000-gallon water storage tank and all appurtenances for the Association.

SMA has remained involved in the project throughout the planning, design and construction phases of the project. Project construction completed in December 2017. SMA provided monthly progress reports to keep the owner aware of changes to design, progress, and cost negotiations with the Contractor for requested changes.
