The construction of an Environmental Assessment (EA) / Environmental Information Document (EID) to comply with current NEPA requirements is becoming an increasingly common part of infrastructure projects. SMA identifies and evaluates potential impacts that may result from the project, identifies target agencies for comment, and notifies funding and land ownership agencies of the plans for the development of the EA / EID. Our staff includes documentation supporting the public review process, which SMA coordinates wherever possible with other funding agency mandated public hearings. Usually, the EA / EID will typically also require, at a minimum, a habitat evaluation for endangered, threatened, and candidate species and a cultural resources survey.
