Regional & Local Hydrogeologic Characterization
Providing an adequate water supply is critical to the success of any residential or commercial development. SMA assists municipalities, developers, and community planners in characterizing regional and local hydrologic conditions in watershed and well siting analysis projects. SMA prepares detailed hydrogeologic reports documenting regional and local groundwater flow patterns, subsurface geologic conditions, and local meteorological conditions. SMA provides interpretation of existing well logs, geophysical data, and the geologic literature to target groundwater resources.
Just as critical as these preliminary reviews are studies to characterize an aquifer’s actual properties. SMA completes hydrologic testing of the aquifers to predict drawdown, cone of depression and other characteristics that will influence future production. SMA collects samples and reviews analytical data that evaluates the suitability of a water source. All of this information can be used transparently with our engineering services to provide a complete water system development from pre-exploration, to well construction, treatment and delivery.
