ACRA 2022 Industry Award - Private Sector!

October 21st, 2022

SMA’s Navajo Gallup Water Supply Project has been selected by the American Cultural Resources Association (ACRA) for the 2022 Industry Award – Private Sector. Dan Cassedy, President of ACRA, in the acknowledgment letter, describes both the ACRA’s mission and the award:

“The American Cultural Resources Association is the national trade association for the cultural resource management industry. The Industry Award-Private Sector is awarded to an ACRA firm’s private sector client who has demonstrated accomplishments and commitments above and beyond those required to meet laws and regulations pertaining to cultural resource management. Statistical Research, Inc. nominated you for the Navajo Gallup Water Supply Project: BBN9 Lateral Archaeological and Ethnographic Survey.”

The Navajo Gallup Water Supply Project (NGWSP) includes the Water Rights, Water Treatment Plant Capacity, and Water Transmission Capacity for the projected demands of Navajo Chapters primarily in New Mexico. Water from the San Juan River will be treated at the proposed San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant in New Mexico before being conveyed through the San Juan Lateral (SJL) dedicated transmission line to various Navajo Chapters and the City of Gallup in New Mexico. The NGWSP Beacon Bisti / N9 (BBN9) Lateral will supply Navajo Chapters along Navajo Service Route N9 and Highway 371 with surface water from the SJL.

We’re extremely proud of all of the work put forth by our team members that allowed this project to be recognized at this level. We owe our thanks to Project Manager, Andrew Robertson, P.E., C.I.D.; Tory Tadano, P.E., P.M.P., who serves as the Manager of the Archaeologist’s work; and Ty Tsinnijinnie, P.E., who was instrumental in working alongside the local communities regarding cultural resource issues.
